4chan has died numerous times over the years, mostly due to getting kicked off of their hosting for being slow at deleting CP threads. After gaining some stability through openly dealing with the FBI, and likely other government agencies, 4chan hasn't had to move datacenters, but has had to deal with distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS).
The first death of 4chan
October 21, 4chan.net moves to United Colo causing downtime.
The second death of 4chan
November 20-21, Site downtime due to moot getting kicked off of his hosting. The following days ushered a lot of down time due to site changes and other problems.
