Convention

A convention, or con, is a place where fat, ugly, smelly people are drawn to. The attendees generally ignore each other in order to use their mobile phones and Nintendo DSes. The average attendee doesn't bathe for the duration of the convention even though showers are available in the hotel rooms rented for the duration of the convention.

Conventions are a breeding ground for furries.

Otakon

Otakon is a well known convention in the USA. The name of the convention is made up of the words otaku and convention. The convention was primarily focused on fanatics of the Japanese anime subculture, though it has expanded to selling mainstream American media.
