To play/copy/edit DVD Video, Most Video Files, Most Audio, etc. on Linux you need to install the restricted-extra codecs. On Ubuntu derived distros, you must choose from:

  • Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras
  • Kubuntu-Restricted-Extras
  • Xubuntu-Restricted-Extras

depending on which distro you are using. You may have to enable the multiverse repository.
